“Ideas are nothing. Execution is everything.” This line laid the foundation for an entire generation of companies. It made sense when execution was scarce, when you could hire a team from FAANG, move swiftly, ship efficiently, and out-execute almost anyone.

However, today, Claude can generate substantial portions of that same execution on demand. You can still move quickly, build well, and execute cleanly; yet, in both cases, you end up with zero customers. This isn’t because execution failed; it’s because the idea was devoid of substance.

We’re witnessing an inversion. Execution is now a standard requirement, and direction is the key factor. What you choose to build, who you choose to serve, and whether the problem even holds significance all carry immense weight. While many people remain fixated on speed, tools, and shipping, almost no one is asking the crucial question: Should this even exist?

While everyone can build, especially when execution is a commodity, very few possess the ability to envision, and if you lack vision, all you’re doing is executing your way to nothingness.
