If you’ve watched the series Dark on Netflix, I’m almost certain you’re a fan. If you’re like me, you might even think this series justifies the invention of TV. The premise is simple, yet terrifying; multidimensional timelines running in a loop. Some characters fight to break it, others to preserve it. But in the end, the loop wins. Their lives feel preset, as if destiny itself is coded into them. No matter how far they go, they always come back to the same point. That’s haunting fiction. It's as though you can choose all you want, but your wants are chosen for you.
And it’s not far from how companies approach AI. They run the same cycle; "First modernize, then apply AI. First save costs, then look for impact." And like in Dark, the loop repeats. AI doesn’t change your 'wants' for you. But if your only 'want' is cost savings, that’s all you’ll ever get.
The real break from the loop? Changing what you want.
When you start wanting more than mere savings; resilience, intelligence, speed; that’s when AI becomes the lever that rewrites your future. More in comment 1...
